Getting playing card box dimensions right is one of the most common mistakes new game brands make — a box that’s even a few millimeters off can mean cards that rattle around or won’t fit at all.
Standard playing cards (poker size) measure 2.5″ x 3.5″, while bridge size runs slightly narrower at 2.25″ x 3.5″. Your box should allow for a small amount of “wiggle room” — usually about 1-2mm on each side — so cards slide in and out smoothly without being loose enough to shift during shipping.
For custom card decks, tuck boxes and two-piece (lid and base) boxes are the most common styles. We recommend two-piece boxes for premium or collector decks, since they hold up better to repeated opening. At XCustomBox, we can produce custom card boxes to your exact deck dimensions, with options for foil stamping, embossing, or matte/gloss finishes — starting at low MOQs so smaller game studios and indie designers can print without huge upfront costs.
